Energy Fields
Energy Fields: Vibrations of The Pacific is an exhibition, publication, and series of public programs co-presented by Fulcrum Arts and Chapman University. Curated by Robert Takahashi Novak and Lawrence English, the exhibition presents a diverse and dynamic collection of works from artists working out of Japan, Australia, Canada, Chile, New Zealand, and the USA. These works explore vibration as a means of deepening understandings of sense, perception, and expanding ways of knowing. The exhibition considers how vibrations, and their resultant waves, influence our planet and ourselves.
Fulcrum Arts
Fulcrum Arts advances collaboration at the intersection of art and science to impact positive social change on a civic scale through exhibitions, institutional partnerships, interdisciplinary symposia, festivals, residencies, and outreach education. Fulcrum Arts is dedicated to building cultural equity into the very structure and fabric of the organization at all levels ensuring that underrepresented populations and voices are included and heard. We support creative practices that incorporate broader, non-western, and Indigenous traditions that resonate within the nexus of art, science, and social change to expand, define, and further human achievement.
Chapman University
Embedded within Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, The Guggenheim Gallery at Chapman University, alongside Chapman University’s Escalette Permanent Art Collection, presents art that intertwines aesthetics with activism, body with being, and community with creative expression. By championing diversity, inclusion, and artistic innovation, they ignite critical thinking and inspire transformative dialogue within the academic community and beyond, fostering a dynamic environment where art and activism converge, turning ideas into catalysts for change.
The mission of Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is to foster rigorous inquiry among our students through a curriculum grounded in the liberal arts that is scholarly, creative, interdisciplinary, and experiential. Wilkinson College plays an important and unique role in the educational journey of every Chapman student and aims to ensure that graduates are prepared to assume their responsibility as global citizens, acting knowledgeably and providing compassionate leadership in our community and world.
